Will Pylant is the founder of Pylant Estate Law, a Huntsville-based law firm focused on estate planning, probate administration, estate litigation, and fiduciary administration throughout North Alabama. Will works with individuals, families, executors, trustees, and beneficiaries to guide them through the legal and practical issues that arise when planning an estate or settling one. His practice regularly involves advising personal representatives and trustees, assisting families with probate administration, and representing clients in disputes involving wills, trusts, and heirship property. Will has been recognized as a Super Lawyers Rising Star for his work in estate and probate law, and through his practice he strives to build North Alabama’s probate and estate law leader.
Through Pylant Estate Law, Will helps North Alabama families create thoughtful estate plans designed to protect their assets and preserve family legacies. He also represents clients when disputes arise, including will contests, fiduciary disputes, and heirship property litigation such as sale-for-division cases.
In addition to representing executors and trustees, Will frequently represents heirs and beneficiaries who believe a personal representative, trustee, or other fiduciary has mishandled an estate or failed to properly account for assets. In probate matters, he regularly advises executors, administrators, trustees, and beneficiaries on their rights and responsibilities under Alabama law and helps them navigate the court process efficiently and effectively.
Will has worked in the area of estates, trusts, and probate for his entire legal career. Before founding Pylant Estate Law, he served as a trust officer at a regional bank where he administered estates and trusts in which the bank was named as Executor or Trustee. In that role, he worked closely with families, financial advisors, and accountants to manage complex estate and trust administrations and assisted high net worth clients with estate planning strategies.
In addition to representing clients, Will has frequently served in fiduciary roles. He has been appointed or engaged to serve as a personal representative, trustee, or conservator for individuals and families and has firsthand experience administering estates, managing trust assets, and overseeing conservatorship matters. This practical experience informs the advice he provides to clients who are serving as fiduciaries and helps him guide them through the responsibilities that come with those roles.
Will is active in the Huntsville legal community. He currently serves as Treasurer of the Huntsville Bar Association and previously served as President of the Young Lawyers Section of the Huntsville Bar Association. He has also served on the Alabama State Bar’s Senior Lawyer–New Lawyer Task Force, which works to strengthen mentorship and professional development within the legal profession.
Outside of the practice of law, Will has been involved in a number of community organizations. He previously served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Huntsville Botanical Garden. He is also active with Huntsville First United Methodist Church, where he and his wife help with the church’s youth group.
Will holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Alabama, where he graduated magna cum laude and was recognized by the National Alumni Association as one of ten Outstanding Seniors for the Class of 2014. During his time at UA, he served as Student Government Association Executive Vice President and Vice President for Student Affairs. He received the Lister Hill Award for his leadership in student government and helped lead projects promoting the university’s baseball program, the arts, veterans’ initiatives, parking improvements, and campus diversity. He was a member of the honor societies Omicron Delta Kappa, Blue Key, Order of Omega, and Pi Sigma Alpha, and he volunteered with tornado relief efforts and free tax preparation programs.
Will earned his Juris Doctor from Cumberland School of Law at Samford University. While in law school, he was selected as a Caruthers Fellow, served as Research and Writing Editor for the American Journal of Trial Advocacy, and was President of the Cumberland Republicans. He was also named Scholar of Merit (best paper) in both Constitutional Law II and American Law Practice and Procedure. In his third year, he was recognized in Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges and served as a Student Bar Association class representative.
Will has also been active in public service and politics. He previously served as an intern in the Governor’s Office, a campaign aide and driver for the Mayor of Huntsville, and a United States Senate Page appointed by Senator Richard Shelby. Over the years, he has also assisted with several successful local and state political campaigns.
Will is a Huntsville native and a proud product of Huntsville City Schools, graduating from Huntsville High School in 2010 as class president.
